Trip down memory lane for me, my second shotgun was a single barrel 16 gauge. Found this nice example recently and had to have it - 16 gauge made in Chicopee Falls MA, came in last week via USPS. The last photo is of me and my brothers going bird hunting with my Dad in the late 1960's. I am the tall boy in the center, wearing Dad's old fatigue cap and jacket, holding my single shot 16GA. OH

Old Hunter:
Congratulations on your " new" shotgun! Love those colors. I see that you have pine needles and swamp maple leaves in the Carolinas like we do here. Great to see an old family hunting photo!
Thanks for sharing!

Old Hunter, nice reconnection to your past. That gun looks like it has been sitting in a closet for over half a century waiting for you. Wonderful case colors. Gil |

Thanks for the positive comments gents and thanks to Researcher for the old advertisement. I have checked it with a snap-cap but hope to shoot it this weekend. I see that Researcher's ad mentions the gun as a No. 94, but my barrel is stamped M1929 however the two shotguns look identical - different era or some other difference? By the way, the gunsmith used a gauge on the barrel after he unpacked it, choke measured about halfway between MOD and FULL on his brass gauge. OH |

Hard to guess how many families the single shot has fed over the years----especially when times were bad, |
