I have used these for wild Pheasant for the past 3-4 years. I have been very pleased with their pattern and performance.
I load the Fed. PF #5 on the upper barrel of my Citori . The lower barrel gets a 1 1/8 #6 Super X or Remington Express. Has been a potent combo for both wild Michigan thumb and Dakota Pheasants. Preserve birds get 1 0z. #6 Super X Game loads. Both barrels choked Mod. |

Ok, so I just started reloading specifically to do a 1 1/4 oz. nickel 5 load for pheasants. But as stated above, I want something that mimics the 1 1/4 oz. pigeon load, 1185 to 1220 fps. I don't see anything but 1260 Blue Dot loads. Anybody using heavier payloads of larger shot at less than 1260? |

the super mag , per Mr VanDenBurg in shotgun sports mag , is 23.5 Blue Dot , a ballistic Prods VP80 wad and 13/8 oz lead . About 1200 . Chedd style case , hevi primer . If you loaded down your present load a grain or so , you might be able to get pretty close to your target velocity . |

I ended up shooting at only one rooster with the Federal load this year. Going away, maybe 25yds. I just remember thinking it seemed like it was hit very hard. |
