Guys (and gals too of course),
I don't know if it was national news, but here in MI we had a 40+ car pile up due to black ice and white out conditions on one of our major freeways.
Unfortunately I was caught smack in the middle of it. Thankfully I am perfectly fine (some would argue that) but my faithful Dodge Ram is completely totaled. Standing in the grassy median as you watch somebody barrel into your vehicle at a decent clip is something I'd never like to witness again, especially in retrospect as I've learned 3 people have lost thier lives in this wreck (not my personal truck/car impact, but over the 40+ vehicles involved).
You all need to be SAFE on the roads. Cautious and alert. And most of all, if you don't need to be in it, don't do it. Sometimes we forget how quickly things can change.
Be safe out in your travels my 16ga compatriots.
I myself will be off to purchase a new vehicle today.

Prayers that you are ok and for those who lost their lives. Indeed, winter roads are nothing to trifle with here in the north. Good luck in your recovery and buying a new vehicle. I know what it can be like to get over a traffic accident. Be thinking of you.

Thankfully you're okay, I'm across the river in Windsor, ON and heard about how bad it was. Prayers to those who were injured and lost lives.

The only thing that matters now, is that you are alright Danny! Trucks come and go, no big deal.

Dale,
Agreed. I was due for one anyway...267000 miles.
Everybody,
Yes indeed, a new vehicle is nothing compared to losing a loved one in an accident like that. I consider myself exceptionally blessed given the circumstances.

Let's all stay as safe as possible this holiday season!

Whew! Go pork in a new shotgun with the new truck just because you were so fortunate to get out of that in one piece! Smile

Glad you are safe and you make a good hint to all. Lived in Germany for years and can remember 50-100 car pile ups on the A5 Autobahn....usually with the first freezing precipitation....not pretty.

Glad you are safe.
Amazing how everyone forgets how to drive on snow and ice in just 6-7 months time.
The day before Thanksgiving I saw a SUV on its roof about six miles outside of Gaylord from 3" of wet snow.

[quote="dannypratt"]Dale,

On you, the truck, or both??? Question Very Happy I'm in the "high mileage class" myself, but my car has less than 34K on it. Laughing Since I don't drive many miles per year anymore, the car will probably be going long after I'm gone.

Glad to hear you're okay Danny. I know your insurance won't be cutting you much of a check (if anything), so unless you're looking to buy a new one (big bucks), I hope you can find a low mileage replacement for short money. Good luck.
