Which one do you like ?

I far as I know Browning has no plans to change the existing grip . I just got a little creative to see how they would look modified .

I kinda like the middle one with a cap added to the pistol grip .

I like the straight stock. Mine is scheduled to be converted just as soon as the holiday shipping dies down. It should be converted in about a month.

I'll just add that it's purely an issue of carry-comfort. The grip is pretty massive as is and actually is "swelled" out on both sides. Versions two and three above will still be a chunky handful, and short, but better than the factory grip. My thinking is a somewhat robust straight stock will feel best in my hands in multiple carry positions , yet give some decent surface area. An acceptable compromise. I've always felt the secret to the recoil management of the Benelli BUL is the massive grip and extra surface area it provides.

HMMMNN now you've got me thinking. I wonder how much modification would be required to put a vintage wood set of furniture on this gun?

Very Happy Straight stock ALL the way. Can't wait to see conversion and hear your thoughts on.

It will be at the chop shop in one day. The gun is already very angular everywhere but the target grip. The "hump" is lower and less pronounced than the original Auto-5, so I'm thinking the straight stock will look pretty good. From a carrying perspective it will be great; a lean, mean, game crushing machine! Smile

Mark, if I could get a nice longish round knob like the Citiori's I'd go that route, but based on what I'm looking at this would convert into a short fat round knob. Of course I could be wrong and am a high percentage of the time! 🙂

Unfortunately, based on what there is to start with you'd truly have prince of "whales" and not a Prince of Wales grip. The old Browning Auto-5 grips are not POW grips.

I had a real good wood guy convert my Beretta 686 field which already has a pretty open pistol grip to a POW. It came out nice and very comfortable, but it's still not as open as you'd see on a POW built from a blank. I like it a lot based on its comfort, but "it's not quite there" as a true POW. There's only so much you can do with a preexisting pistol grip, and the new SW16 grip is pretty limiting.

(real ebony cap btw) Smile
