I don't get it, other than rarity why are AA's that much better?

the solid plastic makes a very good cushion at firing and it's EXTREMELY hard to stretch the head . Being a one piece case , there is no base wad to come loose and get in the barrel as an obstruction and the case head can't stretch/stick in the chamber . It is quite rare for this to happen but not impossible . Know of 5 times in my lifetime . The old AA's have been known to crack at the mouth . They make the best hunting loads as there are no case problems that can occur miles from the car .

Plain and simple: they last so much longer and wads seal up nice and tight in them (no leaky powder problems with fine grain powders).
