Good morning. I haven't posted in quite a while but I have really enjoyed following all of the informative threads. I now have a problem that I'm hoping someone here might can help with.
I have a Miroku Sweet Sixteen that I have hunted hard over the past 20 or so years with. I am very OCD about keeping my guns clean. I have used this particular gun in the damp woods on several occasions and would like to remove the stock to touch up oil and remove any rust that may have formed. However, no matter how hard I have tried I can't loosen the screw that holds the buttstock. I can easily remove the lock screw that is coupled with it but not the main screw itself. Does anyone happen to know of any tricks to loosening this screw?
Also, how important do you think it is that I remove the stock in the first place? Is this area under the stock something I shouldn't worry about?

| Thanks skeettx. I must say I did a poor job of asking my question. I understand how to remove the stock. I do it occasionally on my other A5's. I guess what I'm asking is is there a secret to getting a screw that wont budge to loosen? I hate to use oil or any other substance that might soak into the wooden stock. The screw itself is frozen, won't turn at all. |

Yes it is a good idea to remove the stock every so often to check for rust and to clean especially if it has been exposed to wet weather .
The stock screws on Miroku built Sweet Sixteens can be a real bear to remove , I would call Art's Gun Shop and talk to Art and get his assistants on how to remove the stock screw. |

When taking off the stock, he mentions that the Mirokus were often extra tight and mentions using an impact driver to loosen it. Also says a new screw may be then necessary. Good luck |
