Picked up my new Sweet 16, 28" barrels, have another on order, supposed to be here in March, 26" barrels.
Cleaned it, assembled, and shot some rounds through it (at about 12 degrees out)
Taking it tomorrow for some pheasant shooting.
Real lightweight critter, should make a great prairie chicken gun.
Thought it might be too long, but seems to shoulder okay without any hiccups.
Will see tomorrow. |

Let us know your opinions.
If I get one I am leaning to the 26" model. |

Only fired one shot, finished off a bird my brother was shooting, bird still struggling in the air, and I brought it down.
Gun is lightweight. Will be great Sandhills grouse gun.
So far, I have not noticed it being too long, thought that might be a problem, but so far I am ok with it.
have a 26" barrel model coming in March, not sure what I am going to do.
Might just trade him guns? Might send the 28" and get barrel shortened to say 22-24". |

I had one of the new Sweet 16's for field test. Shot several rounds of skeet with it, killed an opening day Iowa pheasant. Perfect function with 1 oz (and a few 11/8 oz) loads. RST 3/4 and 7/8 would not cycle the action. Worked OK for me as an open country bird gun, although I wish they'd stuck with the traditional round knob. The PG is pretty large and felt fat in my hands. In the woods after woodcock and grouse, weight was not an issue but it felt both long and awkward when doing one-hand carry. But I'd been toting a 5 1/2# Parker Repro 28ga with 26" barrels, so a lot of difference there. A review of the gun will be in the next issue (Mar-Apr) of Pointing Dog Journal. Shot it well enough that I thought about buying one and converting to straight grip but didn't do it. Too much of a 2 barrel guy, I guess--and mostly sxs. |

Larry, I'm having my new SW16 stock converted to a straight stock as we speak. I'll post pictures and my handling impressions when I get it back. |

Met with my gunfitter and my new sweet 16 today. The good news, he thinks it can be modified to fit me. Out of the box it's way off from my specs. The shim system provided by browning offers minimal adjustments. He'll adjust by stock adjustments for LOP, drop at face, cast off and Length of grip. When completed it should fit my specs. The awful front sight also has to go. Overall the gun looks like a nice package. I can hardly wait to get it back. |

Larry, I only sold that one because I have that straight-stocked 12 gauge 200E that weighs an ounce or so more and the weight distribution is such that it swings better for me.
My SW16 straight stock conversion is in progress. Just chatted with my wood guy and it's full steam ahead. |
