I went out to shoot my new Sweet Sixteen today and discovered that I had the wrong choke set. It came with a 16ga IC tube in the gun, but the two chokes and the choke tool in the case are 12 gauge.
Questions for those of you with a new Sweet Sixteen:
What choke came in the barrel?
Is the tool marked 16ga?
Is the choke case any different than the black 12 gauge case?
Thanks,
Cass |

My SW16 had the IC choke installed when I received it. Fortunately, my black case had two 16 tubes in it. The tubes do not have any reference of identifying them as 16 gauge. I hope this answers your questions.

Thanks Jim. It helps to know yours had the IC choke installed. I wanted to make sure the store didn't switch things around before I bought it.
The chokes are not marked with the gauge, but the tool is marked. Of course the outside diameter of the 12 gauge tubes is about the same as the OD of the 16 gauge barrel.
Looks like I'll be calling Browning on Monday.

What about the manual and other accessories? I wonder if they mixed those up too?
The manual doesn't mention gauge and looks like my 12ga A5 manual, but I assume it is just generic to both.
The shims and spacers are the same size as my A5 12ga. I haven't had the 16ga stock off yet to see if that is correct.
Could any of you who have an A5 12ga comment on those?
Thanks,
Cass |

I talked to Browning today and they are sending out the correct choke tubes and tool. They are checking on the shims, some said they were the same and others said they were different.
They confirmed that the spacers for the butt pad are the same between the 12ga and the 16ga.
They haven't had many calls for parts on these yet!

Someone must have just woke up after a nap before that was shipped---at least they made it right.Did Browning want the 12 ga. tubes returned? |

They didn't mention that and I didn't think to ask. I'll wait and see what is in the package when it arrives. They might be sending a return label.

Could one of you confirm what type of choke wrench your Sweet Sixteen came with. Is it the plastic "T-Wrench" type similar to the 12ga new A5's?
I got the correct choke tubes today but they sent a standard invector wrench which is way too thick.
Thanks,
Dave |

Thanks! I'm on the phone with Browning right now.
It's apparently not shown on their website or parts list yet, so they are trying to figure out how to get it internally.

Would one of you be willing to take a picture of the 16ga "T-Wrench" that comes with the Sweet 16? I would like to send it to Browning to show them what I need.
I just received their second attempt to send me the correct choke wrench, this time they sent the "Dual Invector" wrench which of course doesn't work with the DS chokes. The first attempt was the standard invector wrench.
At least they are trying, but it would be nice to have a choke wrench for my shotgun rather than using a penny held by pliers to change chokes.
