Dale, I'm not much of a handgunner, but that CZ-75 sure looks like a winner for a 9MM. I was just reading through the testimonials on the CZ website. I can't hit a damned thing with a handgun. |

The CZ-75 is an excellent handgun, but a 1911 it is not. Once one starts with 1911s it can become an addiction like 16 gauges. |

Dave, mine is the CZ-75B-SA, single action,it has a 16+1 capacity, but I usually only load around 10 rounds in it.
I am a big fan of VZ Grips, have them on it + my Remington R1, 1911. They really seem to help me shoot better.
As Popplecop says, it is not a 1911, which you prefer is a matter of your experience I guess. In my case, the CZ wins hands down.

See, I knew Jeff would get pulled down the rabbit hole. He just wants a range gun, and look what we're doing to this thread.
I have far too many guns. Recently, in order to keep myself out of a 12-step program, I made a commitment to myself to dispose of two firearms for every new one I buy. We'll see how that goes...
That said I will admit to owning eight 1911s. Mostly Colts, plus two Kimbers. My EDC is usually a lightweight Commander .45.
My pre-B CZ-75 is the only other pistol I own that I like as much as the elevens, and in all significant respects has the same ergonomics as the 1911. It has the same feel in the hand as a Browning High power, arguably the most comfortable semi-auto grip ever, and certainly the most comfortable high-capacity grip. And the Kadet .22LR conversion unit is in a class by itself for reliability and accuracy. |

Got a promotional email this morning revealing the Colt Gold Cup Trophy, introduced at SHOT Show this year. Stainless steel and -- most significantly -- comes with a Bomar rear sight. The proprietary Colt rear sight and its wandering roll pin were the Achilles Heel of the original. This one might be worth a look. |

Ta da!
My new Dan Wesson Pointman 9. Single stack 9mm all stainless with adjustable black rear sight and fiber optic front. Got it from Grab A Gun for a great price. Nicest handgun I have ever owned. Field stripped it last night, lubed the rails and racked it 200 times. Shot it after work today. Put 90 rounds through it with zero malfunctions. Trigger is 4 lb 4 oz, but it breaks so clean it feels much lighter. I am thrilled. Used the first 9 rounds to sight it in and then put my second magazine into this target at 21 feet. This gun is easy to shoot well.
I'm already considering another 1911 in .45 ACP.
Regards,
Jeff |

JNW,
Nice addition there! I have DW Specialist in stainless steel that I customized. You'll enjoy that one I'm sure! |

I'm already eyeing a Dan Wesson Specialist .45 in Duty Black. They look tasty.

Your choice of the Kimber was a sound one. I have owned three, and still have two of them. I have never had a malfunction with any of them. Took one to Thunder Ranch for the Defensive Pistol course and it was perfect for the drills there. Solid guns.
You must obtain a .45. Mandatory. |
