I just discovered this:
http://barrettsovereign.com/rutherford/
according to the website no SxS in 16ga.
For the O/U I wonder if it really has 3" chambers (likely a typo). Says receiver scaled to gauge, but, no weights listed, Humm...
Given the price list - they are PROUD.
Anybody know from experience???
I think I'll give my Citori's a hug |

No I haven't but I knew that Barrett(the rifle folks) started making shotguns.
I kinda think that these are made in Italy. If you look at the wording on their home page.
I am going to guess Rizzini, as they are the only Italian gun maker that I know of that make a scaled 16 Gauge receiver. The pricing is also similar.
Probably shouldn't speculate, no offense to anyone. |

According to what I read, the o/u Rutherford is a joint development with Fausti. The price is about $2,500. I contacted them to ask about the weight on the 16 models. Must admit I'd be more interested if the price was right around $1,700 to $1,900 with Browning citori models. |

They are made by Fausti. Fausti makes guns to several price points. Fausti, B. Rizzini and I. Rizzini (F.A.I.R.) all still make 16 ga. guns scaled to gauge. And all 3 are of course related, even if by marriage. |

According to Vicki Carrera, Sales & Customer Service Supervisor, the posted weight for the 16 gauge will be 6.5 pounds with obvious variation for wood. |

With a list of around $2500 chances are that actual shelf/ show prices will be a bit lower making it a possible contender with some of the Citori models. In a few years used prices around $1500? I hope they catch on and some higher and lower grades come along too.
3" chambering? I think the europeans are playing with such things behind the scenes but have my doubts it would catch on. That said, here in the U.S. a portion of the market seems to go for such things and if a company announced a 4" 12ga, tomorrow people would get in line. Who knows? A 3" 16 really is not of much use with lead shot but may do good with steel shot since that stuff stays round no matter how high it gets stacked. If it would spawn a surge in 16 ga. popularity, it would be worthwhile for that reason alone. |

Be careful Wyo, do we really want the 16 to be popular?
With few exceptions I kinda like it not being popular. |

If the 16 gets popular, I'm dumping my Superlite Feather on gunbroker.
I also carry a .41 in bear/lion country because every swingin' johnson has a .44.
Some of us just roll that way. |

Hulls that will take great crimp pressure, hold wads tight, and last for years are a bummer. You're a real funny man! |
