The load Dave posted is fantastic! I have had spectacular results with it and as he said, I've used it in pretty low temps (single digits) with no FTF's. I affectionately call them "Dave's Magic NP6 Loads". They kill game dead and seem to find here way through brush well. Hard load to beat in my vast experience with them.

Dogchaser, did you developed this load???

No.....actually I developed every load on pages 71, 72 and 73 except for that load and a similar load on page 72 using a Remington hull. That's why I didn't remember the load, because I didn't develop it.

Those two loads were done by Pete, the owner of the company.

I get outstanding results with Longshot...with one little problem. It leaks around the wad like water in Cheddite or Fed hulls. I pre flare my CB blue wads and the problem is gone but it is an extra procedure. If I had a bunch of RGL hulls I would certainly be using them to solve the issue.

Anyway, the pressures are very friendly with 1 1/8 oz charges and easy on older guns/ stocks. More than anything though, my 50 yard patterns are superb.

In 2nd place, 800-x has performed admirably and leaks past nothing. The 50 yard patterns have been slightly less effective, about 5% or so or I would have stayed with it. 800-x is my go to powder for 1 oz.

I have no experience with Longshot, but it certainly looks useful. I've been told it is very loud. Any truth to that?

Dave it all sounds the same to me with my ear plugs in.

I am sure it probably is a little louder with the velocities you can get using it.

I like it for the 1 1/4 oz. loads.

Thanks, Mark! I used read about it being 4th of July loud when it first came on the market, but I haven't read much about that lately.

I have put a couple thousand rounds through my Fox in the past year and a half, mostly with loads burning 800-x or Longshot. Can't say that I can hear the difference but when I practice I wear ear plugs. When I am hunting (most of my use by far) I am not wearing plugs but the excitement of the moment may block out most my mental perception of the noise anyway.
