Did anyone here end up with the Fortuna they had at Lakes Trading? I tried to get several people to buy it, but failed. At $1200 it was a fabulous gun. Made in 1925, double triggers, extractors, 29.5" barrels and the gun was almost like new. Excellent case colors and blue, both over 98%. The bores were perfect, the chokes original and it even had the original buttplate. It weighed 6 lb 1 oz and was a wand. I already have a lovely Simson 16 gauge and did not need another one. They had it marked it down to $950 and someone bought it in the shop. Really, really nice gun. Hope it found a good home.

Not me. When I called you to discuss the gun, they wouldn't go below 1200. If they'd have said 950 it would have followed me home. Noticed they were also listing it as a Model 8??

Agree with JNW, at $950 it was a steal IMO. The screws looked pretty much unmolested, the engraving and lettering on the receiver looked new and there was a good bit of the original case colors remaining. Also, the stock looked uncut from what they showed. Pretty unusual for a field grade gun dating from 1927.

I think they picked up the Fortuna name from a post-war gun that looked similar, it looked like a pre-war Model 8 to me. I talked to them shortly after they listed it and they didn't have a clue about the gun at that time. Later on the description got much more accurate, someone probably emailed or called and let them know the details.

Hope someone here got it.

Here's the auction link.

Looks like it had the screws for intercepting sears.

The PAIN of not knowing about this, JEFF!

I've got the same gun, it was described to me as an Model 8, the case coloring on mine is gone, leaving a very pleasant silver.

Bought it off of Kirby Hoyt, IC & mod choked, shot my last pheasant with this gun using RST's 1 oz # 6 shot.

At $950.00 that was a great bargain, I paid a little more than that about five years ago.

Gun weighs 6lbs, 7 oz's.

Dale

I tried to get several local people to buy it. In my view it was a bargain at $1200. You will not find a better built, or better handling gun for that price anywhere. It was WAY more gun than any American Classic.
I was about to post about it here, but it's gone. There will be more.
Regards,
Jeff

Jeff, Garret was set on trying to buy the gun but measured the chokes and they were both light modified. He was looking for something a little tighter for prairie birds. It was a great looking gun at a nice price especially with the long barrels.

He also called on a really nice 30" 16 ga sterly at cabelas that was sold already but not updated on their website. I told him I was going to buy it if he didn't call. Really happy with my 30" sterly I bought last year.
