Thanks for your story. Great!

When Dad split up his guns before passing he gave his Model 37 16 to my older brother. He has faithfully used it for the past 30-40 years on all his upland game hunts. Unlike me, he doesn't have a bunch of 16s--only Dad's old bird gun from the late 50s. I get to look at it every time we hunt together, which is normally when either of us hunt birds. Maybe he'll let me shoot it again some day! Dad passed on a legacy, and his guns!

Thanks to him and thank you.

Great story and one many of us can relate to! I also, break out my dads gun at least once a year to remember him, wishing he could be along busting brush watching my pointers work ruffed grouse on sunny, but frosty mornings in late October. While many wouldn't look twice at the Sears and Roebuck 16 gauge pump gun of his from the 1960's, it's the reason for my significant interest in 16's not to mention the uplands.

Some of you might remember this article I wrote about dad's old 16 ga. Springfield-Stevens SxS hammer gun. http://www.shotgunlife.com/shotguns/guns/after-60-years-dad-s-16-gauge-hardware-store-hammer-gun-is-back-in-the-family.html
