So why did Remington and Winchester continue to make 16's in the same colors as their respective 12's? I'd like to have seen Remington do 16's like their green 12 and have some metallic purple hulls. |

Federal might have independently decided to make all their 20 gauge ammo yellow before the others, but I think yellow for 20 gauge ammo became mandatory or at least agreed on as an industry standard by and for all US shotgun ammo manufactures at a later time. When did this happen is the question. |

df, as to your inquiry as to if anyone made purple hulls. I came across a full box of Reliance Red Head purple paper shells at a gun show several months ago, they were sold through Montgomery Ward. Nice purple color. They now have a space on my collection shelf. |
