Looking at these loads I can't seem to find which one is accurate in searching the forum and why there is a difference with the RST hull. Anyone shoot any of these? I'm looking for a new load when my 7625 powder runs out.

Yes, if somebody can chime in on this it would be greatly appreciated! I have been shooting the first listed formula with very good success on grouse and woodcock. However, I was using it the RST Cheddite hulls! I didn't realize there was a distinguished difference between cheddite and RST cheddite? Please advise!

From what I can find looking into the subject there is no difference in hulls. So if that is the case what is the reason for such a difference in grains/fps/pressure? Which recipe is most accurate?

There is absolutely no way of knowing which one is correct.......they all could be.

I would use the Hodgdon data.

I have always heard that BP data is a bit suspect. I go with the powder manufacture, Lyman, of something that's been tested by Tom.

I have been loading cheddite hulls 23/4 not 21/2 for sometime here are my loads that I have tested and shoot allot hunting and skeet.

Herters hull(cheddite)
20.9 Universal powder
Downrange wad DR-16
7/8 once of 8 shot
Fiocchi primer 209
Crono avg 5 shots=1140fps

Herters hull(cheddite)
21.9 Universal powder
SG-16 wad
1 once of 8 shot
Fiocchi primer 209
Crono avg 5 shots=1291fps
Hope this info helps
These loads crimp perfectly

The one loaded in the RST hull is one that is sent in for testing by one of the 16ga members , doesn't say who and we don't have the spec sheet on it . Maybe the crimps were deeper than the loads tested by Hodgden .

The Ched hulls that I have are no different than the Rst hulls I have so I don't think its the hull

Also reloads through once fired hulls often have an increase in pressure due to increase friction of the wad against a roughened hull wall. The data from Hodgden was very likely new hulls and the RSTs were likely at least once fired hulls.

From Tom Armbrust:

So maybe the effect is not as profound on light loads as I had thought but the hulls tested were some of the best every made so it would be interesting to reproduce with the cheddite hull.
