Hello fellow 16 ga.'ers , my first post! Lots of good info on here so I've just been a troll up till now. I have a chance to pick up a Browning A-5 in 16 ga. only problem is it's a 2-1/2 inch chamber. Can the chamber be lengthened? I've had forcing cones lengthened and polished before. Would that do the same thing? Thanks guys. I await your collective expertise! Laughing

Thanks Mike. Looks like a good selection of 2-1/2" unfortunately, we bad ass Canucks are not allowed to buy ammo across the border. Evil or Very Mad

Well look at you on CGN's! Actually the gun I'm looking at is for sale on there. I never thought of Prophet River as a source. I've been reloading my own, but didn't want to cut shells down for one gun. Thanks again . Cheers, Jim

clay is the man at Prophet River , he can help you out importing
As fad as lengthening the chamber a gunsmith would have to check the amount of wall thickness but I have done it with no issues on Brownings before

Have you looked into the HARTIN CRIMP? Use the search function.

Trim 2 3/4 in. hulls to 2 1/2 inch. Load em up with your load. Top the load with an overshot card. Then run through the regular crimp stations. Nothing to buy, except a hull trimmer, maybe. I found some PVC pipe that would allow the hull rim to catch, cut it to a bit less than 2.5", and trim with an utility knife. I know of a guy that made a jig to trim to 2.5" on his bandsaw. A 5/8" hollow punch makes usable O/S cards out of milk cartons.

BTW; Bringing ammo into Canada is no problem in quantities less than 15,000 rounds. The ugly part is getting them out of The Land Of The FREE. Razz
