I've located a Japan 1987 Browning A5 Sweet 16. The barrel is 26" with a vent rib and invector chokes. The gun is in excellent condition and I am considering making it my own. However, I am unsure of its value considering it is made in Japan. Please advise.

Thanks!!

Go to Gunbroker and check the completed auctions. Find guns that have actually sold and not just been relisted. That's the best way to get an idea of the current market. With A5s it's all about condition.
What you'll notice is all the guns that haven't sold because the owners want over a grand for them. A5 guys are nuts!

I have one of those. Very nice shooting guns. I haven't paid any attention to them on GB for maybe 4 months but remember seeing them going for $1200 plus. Of course having box, papers, etc will bring the most. Good luck

I've had a theory that the new models would drive down some of the price on versions not considered top demand.

Not seeing the gun- $800-$1200. It's value to you is up to you. The the Japan or Belgian guns are excellent shooters, if you like A5's.JNW is correct about using sold guns on GunBroker as a price barometer. How much do they want for the gun?

Sounds like a winner to me. If you get it and don't like it, I have a notion you can move it on this forum.

Buy it now! Jap guns are good for steel shot. I have seen the barrels go for 500 or more. No brainer.
