Glad so many of you have found alternate solutions to the same problem. I will say the one I have is lightweight, quickly unfolds and collapses and is easy to carry in a bag or vest. Works on .410 through 12 gauge. I will say that I have had multiple opportunities to sell mine when out on a sporting course. I could probably charge $5 to $10 per use! Not always easy to find a long, straight branch, especially for a small bore gun. If you want to mine your own ore, smelt it down and make your own wad knocker more power to you. This is one of the best uses for a $20 bill I've ever found.
Dave, obviously you're thinking of the wad knocker used in episode 23 of Wild, Wild West when Artemis Gordon, dressed as a woman, pulled a hat pin out, unfolded it, and cleared the barrel of his Colt lever action shotgun. Classic use of a wad knocker in 20th century cinema. Of course, it wasn't a wad, but the brass hull that would not fully extract from the chamber.
Regards,
Jeff |

Can I ask why folks need wad knockers?
Do folks actually have that many bad loads? |

Mine has been used more to remove stuck hulls. Those steel heads don't play nice with every chamber.

I have been shooting since I was 12 years old and began reloading when I was 19.
I have had one stuck wad in 65 years of shooting. That said, I may have had mud or snow in my barrels half a dozen times, yet I carry a breakdown "wad knocker" in my vest. paranoia? |
