I'm thinking about buying a Ithaca Model 37 16 gauge with a modified choke. The serial # is 270,xxx so that puts its at a 1949 gun correct? The help I need is I have not gone to look at the gun yet appears to be in good shape from the pics I saw etc. But the gentleman says there is no serial # on the receiver only the barrel. Is this possible?? He said he knew what I was talking about etc.. I explained where it should be and he said he knew also but there is nothing there. Its almost a 2 hour drive for me to go look at this- was planning on going sat morning. Is that something I should be concerned about if there is no serial # on the receiver? There is one on the barrel and he said he bought it at a gunshop. Thanks for your help. |
