<  16ga. Ammunition & Reloading  ~  question about hull lengths

Hello,, this is my first post/question,,,after a few fireings in my A-5 the crimp are splitting on these Win /cheddite hulls. insted of pitching them would it hurt anything to trim them back to 2 1/2 to use in my old ithaca flues sxs,,it seems to me just commin sense to trim and reuse but i was wondering if someone in the foram has'nt already been doing this and it a sound reuse of splitting 2 3/4 s .Thanks..

Yes, by all means trim them and use the 2 1/2 inch Yahoo loading info.
The Flues is a FUN GUN, I have one in 20 gauge.



I prefer using the 2 1/2 ammo in my Win Model 12 plus I also use it in
my Geco SXS and my Krieghoff Drilling.

Thanks,, I thought it would work but just wanted to make sure,, I like these lod guns and don't want to hurt them so i realy try to watch the pressure levels,,,Thanks agin for the answer

A friend of my dads who also grew up during the depression used shotshells, trimming when needed, several times, until the shells that started out as 2 3/4 were down to less than 2". He adjusted the load, but his loads were fiber wad so it was mostly a matter of removing a wad to get the correct length. Getting a correct load would be more difficult with todays one piece wads.
