I currently have a batch of remington game loads (black hulls) and a couple boxes of Winchester game loads (red hulls).

When it comes time to reload them, can I use the same recipe for both - let's assume 1 oz or 7/8 oz target loads - or would other components also need to be adjusted to accomodate the different hulls?

As a rule, it is never wise to mix hulls. This means hulls of different makes and capacities. A hull's internal volume is the biggest factor in determining a load's pressure range. All other things being equal, the more volumous hull will usually have the lowest pressure.

Some hulls from the same company have identical volumes and can be safely interchanged with out problems. The new Remington GL16 black hull and the SP16 green express hull are identical and can be used interchangably, but not the older ones with paper base wads.

The obsolete winchester Upland and Super-X compression formed one piece hulls are all the same regardless of the name, but are not interchangable with the new poly formed hulls, again, regardless of the name.

Untill you gain expereince and know hulls better, do not mix hulls.
