My son recently acquired an early '50s Model 12 in 16 ga. Unfortunately, it has a cracked buttstock. I'm guessing the 16 ga. stock is a different size than the 12 or 20. Is that the case?

Beware any used ones on the net. Had a guy selling one. The pix didn't show any cracks.
When it arrived it had several cracks not visible in the pix. Seller had to take it back & do a refund. I ordered a butt stock from Midway USA ( a boyts brand). It didn't especially match the fore stock ( can refinish the replacement ). Long story short, it made a good replacement for a "shooter" quality old model 12. I won't buy any more used off the internet auction sites.

The 12 gauge stock is identical except for a little bit of trimming needed at the top of the grip at the receiver. It is a very easy modification.

I think I've only ordered one from ebay, for a model 37 Ithaca, but it was a good one. I guess you never know. Come to think of it, I think it was factory old stock.
