My prayers and thoughts go out to the people of Texas. I lived in Houston, and worked in Freeport, Tx in the late 1960's.
My daughter is now living in Houston.
Good people there, and wonderful memories.

+1 Dale . My nephew is down there , and his in-laws are in Virginia , so I hope he went on vacation for a while !! In spite of the relative connections , don't wish that action on anybody . I'm 25 miles from Lake Ontario , and we had an all time wet , late winter /spring .Never did/could go fishing up there . Lake level is still unmanageable on the high side and there are some really nice/pricey places going to hell still . Rains , although spotty , are still affecting them . A bad winter is going to be awful .... still , prayers are with the Lone Star State !! |

I am currently in Ft Worth and tomorrow going to the Bush Presidential Library to celebrate the wife's 70th birthday.
Her sister and family live in Baytown, so far they are OK

Mike, you aren't going down to Baytown are you? Pretty nasty weather down there.

I'm in Austin, and we've been fortunate so far just a little wind and a steady rain all day. I've been in touch with my friends in Corpus Christi, and while they don't have power they're OK.
Rockport is my favorite place on the entire Texas coast though and it makes me sick to see what it looks like on the news. |

I am so sorry to hear of the misery in TX. The silver lining in this dark cloud will be the outpouring of goodwill and support from the rest of the US sending power crews from all over the country to repair downed power lines. When we were hit by Hurricane Matthew last year we had crews from all over the country pitching in to get us up and running. A crew from TX repaired the lines behind our house. Georgia Power will be on its way to TX if it hasn't already departed. Gil |

We've been lucky in Central TX, slow steady rain so far. It has a chance to run off, the folks down river might not be so lucky. They are getting deluge type rain and our run off. plus they got the hurricane. 4 1/2" yesterday. |

skeettx,
Be safe my friend, hope your home is in good shape. My daughter Vanessa was born in the Darnell Army Hospital, Ft Hood Texas, when I was stationed there. We use to get a lot of rain from time to time, a real mess at times. Texas people can handle anything, however that does not mean they should have too.
