Let's have an agreement that if anyone notices the 16 ga. Herter's 8's on sale we give a heads up here. Cabela's bumped the price up to $69.99a flat which isn't terrible, but I'd rather pay less!
The 1 oz. 6's have been on sale lately for $59.99/flat.
Come on Cabela's! Do the right thing! |

I have noted that the price on Herters #8 lead has not been a good deal lately.
I wonder if their acquisition by Bass Pro has something to do with it. |

This is off the original post and more in line with John's comment.
I worry about prices after the Bass Pro takeover myself. The reason is based on current Bass Pro prices! For example, most powders at my local BP are around $33 a pound. A local large gun shop sells most of their's for around $24 a pound. I finally located some Alliant STEEL for my steel reloading at a local pawn shop for $20.50 a pound (and stocked up!).
Needless to say, I haven't bought any of my current reloading supplies at Bass Pro. And nothing else, since their gun salesman denigrated 16 gauges when I told him he did not have a single shotgun on his racks I had any interest in since their wasn't a 16 gauge to be seen. . . . .
A good salesman does not offend a potential customer!
Sorry for getting off topic. |

The Herter's shell prices seem to float around. You just have to watch. In the past sales and free shipping come and go. Not sure of the Bass Pro impact. Just have to wait and see. |

Flyer I received yesterday indicated a sale starting on the 10th for 7.5's and 8.
Not sure what the final price will be, it said 16ga & .410 normally 69.99 - 99.99 marked down to 62.99 - 92.99.
So I'm guessing the 8's which currently retail at 69.99 will be 62.99.
Guessing the 7.5's which currently are 79.99 will be 72.99 or so.
Poor .410'rs will continue to get gouged in the 90's...
Also received one of the 20 off 150 coupons, so keep your eyes open if you are in the market for some more. It's not 59.99 but still a few bucks off, might be the new reality for the Herter's. |

TripleH, you were right. $62.99 is not a bad deal for these nice shooting rounds. The $5 shipping and additional coupons make it a great buy for 16 gauge ammo.
Edit to add, I see they have free shipping on orders over $99 right now. |

Confirmed price online this morning was
62.99/flat - #6
62.99/flat - #8
72.00/flat - #7.5
(Didn't check their #5 pheasant load, sorry)
Free shipping over $99.
Using a few cabelas bucks and the $20 off $150 coupon was able to get three flats at a smidgeon under $6/box. Not the cheapest they've ever been I'm sure, but not shabby.
(10% off all reloading powders also, just as general info, no idea how their prices on powder usually compare).
Happy Shopping.
