Congrats to both.

Our early chicken season here in Kansas doesn't open until the 15th. If I get a chance on my days off LC Smith and i will take my golden retriever out after some in the Flint Hills nearby.

I haven't hunted prairie chickens in 15 years. That is too long. Probably headed to Nebraska in a month or so. Have gun. Have dog. Have camper. Have urge to wander. I miss those chickens.

How are you liking the new A5 SW16 in the field?

Got another chicken today, liking the A5 sweet 16ga, hammering birds with it, and haven't shot it much. It is a great prairie gun, it is light!

took the dog teal hunting yesterday, she retrieved all 4 teal, but she isn't much for being in her blind, in fact on second shot at teal, she didn't wait for me to open the gate, she ran right through the back of the blind, not chew through it, just hit it so hard she went through it to get to the duck. So going to have to re-think that set up.

Hootch,
Last season I had both Brittanys in a dove blind that I carefully constructed out of camo netting tied to lightweight conduit posts driven into the ground. I had openings in two sides for the dogs to run out. First shot, they took off through the blind dragging stakes, netting, etc. Damn the openings, full speed ahead by the most direct route possible...

HA! well, she is no duck dog by trade, just really passionate about retrieving, and she will go get ducks, so just a bonus. Her main job is finding and pointing upland birds,
I will figure something out for her for ducks. There is really no leaving her home, she wants to go...
