Clean the die. Hell there are 8 of them.
Will try the supersizer. |

I have found steel wool and a power drill then a wipe down with a very light coat of oil a good way to go in cleaning the dies. |

Hmm. I used steel wool and solvent but didn't oil afterwards. Could be a difference maker. Maybe sizing wax would help, too. |

I won't say the type of high-end loader I have for 16's. But I converted it my self with very little work. Loader is like a tank. Plus DON'T cost like the PW or splorar. Can load 1 at a time or continually load . No worry about shot or powder cause if there are no hulls in the powder station it won't dump powder. If no wad in the hull it won't dump shot. I have no affiliation with this bran but they sure as he'll missing the boat not making this for the 16. Only thing they would need to do is change couple dies. Also when loading I don't worry about what brand of hull I use. It's just what filler I use when needed. I found I only use one wad the claybuster for my 1oz or 1-1/8 load. The other brand of wads are just way to expensive. And most others wads except DR the pedals tear off when trying to take apart for any reason. Bill |

Would your loader be an old PW 600? |

No, this one is in modern production today by a very highly reputable company.
Also when I load I don't sort my hulls and they turn out good crimps. I may have 5 or 6 different hulls on the press at one time. It is a 8 station press.
I bought mine about 4 years ago and have been very happy with it. I do have a 9000 but only use it with a 1-1/8 shot instead of changing bushings. But I may only load 1 box of them a year. |

I haven't mixed shells like that with my P-W 900 in 16ga but have switched between 12ga AA, Premier and Gold Metal shells and recipes without changing crimp settings. I haven't found any combination yet with the DR-16 that smoothly seats them without frequent cocking of wad cup sections. I have run AA winchester 16s using AA wads and R16 wads with no problems, as well as a particular combination of Cheddite wads and Guilandi wads. Maybe operating the press as a single stage and operating the handle variously to suit the particular steps would get it done but that's not how the press was designed to run. |

Hammerbill, why must you keep the make and model of your press secret? |

My guess is it's a RCBS Grand. They can operate single stage at least.
Only other options would be Hornady 366 or Dillon loader. The Hornady fits with the price claim, but not sure about single stage usage? These three are the only three non-16ga progressives that come to mind. |

I am a pack rat with way too many machines.
But I admit Hammerbill has peaked my curiosity.
I thought PW600, of which I have one I converted to 16, as well as a PW plantinum 2000 progressive, further I have the progressive Texan in 12, a non progressive 16ga texan for short shells, and a 16ga MEC 600. I even have a much older 16ga progressive texan that is fairly rare as a cross between a single stage and a rotating progressive. plus a vouple of other miscellaneous 12ga machines.
And the usual PW375 in 16,20 and another in 12
The funny thing is these days I mostly roll crimp on a drill press or load RMC Brass by hand. |

Dillon doesn't make 16 gauge reloader and that is for the best. They know centerfire they do not know shotshells. |
