I have aquired a case (in original wooden crate) of I believe 1950's or 1960's Federal Monark 16 gauge ammunition. It is marked:

Federal Monark S162
Lot# 24MS5F3
2 1/2" cases
Smokeless 1
9CH
Wadless Crimp Skeet Load

The picture on the box is a man in plaid coat and hat elbowing a shotgun...

The boxes are all 100%, clean, unmarked, perfect condition...

Question Question Questions Question Question

1) Is this ammunition worth saving as a collector?
2) Should I just 'shoot it up'?
3) What would you do with it?

Dead

PS: I just purchased a Browning Citori White Lightning 16g that I plan to use for grouse type birds. I suppose I could use the Monark in that shotgun

Welcome.
You might PM Mike Campbell for advice. http://www.16ga.com/forum/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=939
He sure has a remarkable collection.

Please DON"T shoot them up!

YOU FOUND MY SHELLS! I lost them many years ago! That is actually a picture of me on the box in my plaid coat! I will re-imburse you for your postage if you would be so kind as to return them! Laughing

That's sure something you don't just happen across everyday.

My father-in-law passed away last year and he had squirreled them away -- he was that kind of guy (never even owned a 16g)...

I sold a few open boxes of the same Monark to friends at the gun shop, but kept the full case. If thry're worth something to collectors, I'll sell them and get another 16g... Very Happy
