Hey all, my son Jim and I went out after work to hunt around the house here. While I got 2 (poor Jim, didn't connect today) we only saw 4 birds total, all were singles. Not like last year or years past. Hope to do better tomorrow.
Jim and Raina, Jim was using his 16ga AyA

My 2 birds, I was using my 16b John Wilkes

Greg,
Looks like a good hunt and the birds are a bonus. With that said I always like to see my sons connect. It’s really nice to see a father and son out together. Not enough of that any more.
Did you happen to buy that Wilkes from Hill, Rod and Gun?
Good Hunting,
Mike |

Hey Mike, thanks for the kind words. Yep it's fun to watch your young'ns connect. My other son is in the Army in Germany right now. Sure do miss him!
I bought the Wilkes from Safari Outfitters
Best,
Greg |

Looked like a 16 bore Wilkes I considered at Hill, Rod & Gun. I contemplated the purchase too long and they sold it.
Good Hunting,
Mike |

M. McIntosh had a Wilkes of which he was very fond. You're in good company!
My bearded wonders and I are anxiously waiting for the duck season to open next weekend. Too hot and humid here again this weekend for much of anything.
94 today, 93 tomorrow, 91 Sunday, and humid! |

Dave, this weather is crazy. I'll be hunting later today and tomorrow on the east side of Lake Huron, about half way up. Forecasted temps are in the mid 80's. I'll be upland hunting and I'm still trying to figure out what to wear that will get the job done and not induce heat prostration. It's days like this I say "Damn you hunter orange!"
Greg, even your poor days look damn good from here! Will be poking around your neck of the woods later in October. |

Glad to see you are having some success. How are the pheasants doing? We heard the drought hit them hard. We cancelled our trip out your way for this year due to the landowners saying things were pretty bad. |

Good to see you are getting some sharpies. I can't wait to go somewhere and listen to their chuckling cries again.
I'm glad to see that you get to hunt with family. Never take it for granted; those are the moments of your life. |

Thanks all for the kind words. My son Jim, is an experienced hunter, he's 20 now, and has been hunting since he was 7. I guess it was a poor choice of words on my part when I said he didn't connect. What I meant to say is, he didn't have any shots.
Thanks again!
