Gentlemen,

Because I lost 3 Grouse dogs to old age in the past 10 months I am purchasing a new Llew English Setter pup from a man who breeds his fine Setter Dogs Strictly for his own hunting use. Later next year I am also planning to purchase another Gordon Setter pup from a business who specializes in Grouse dogs.

At age 68 I am now retired from training most other hunters gun dogs, I want to enjoy the rest of my life bird hunting and Fly Fishing with my fine Double Guns, Bamboo Fly Rods and Gun Dogs. These dogs will probably be the last Grouse dogs I will ever purchase and Train. I may still teach some Fly Fishing in Potter County, Pa from time to time, depending on my health, and how well my legs hold out.

My wife and I finally purchased a fully upgraded Ranch House and it is just fantastic being on one floor in both the homes we now own.

I hope each and every one of the members here accomplishes what my wife and I have together.

May the Lord take a liken to ya.

Good luck getting a Gordon's color on that white setter's face! Wink

When I was in Shreveport I shot Trap with a man who built a field in his back yard and took the steps to where he'd throw registered ATA targets. His home was a single level, I told him most of the homes around the area were built that way and wondered if it had to do with the location. He said no, he intended to live in the house until he dies. Made a lot of sense, more so when my grandparents declined and lost much of their mobility.

A good dog, wife, bamboo rod, and a log cabin- can't ask for much more! Oh yeah- a good double gun and a few birds! And you've got that too!

Gentlemen,

Thanks much everybody for the kind words, I appreciate it, picking the new Llew English Setter pup up on Thursday the 5th of Oct, out in Ohio. Will take the pup up to the log cabin. I do all the initial house training and socialization with the pups at the log cabin home. Keeps the better half happy. Grouse season comes in here in Pa on the 14th, added a couple nice 16 Gauge shotgus to the gun safe this year that I want to break in, this Grouse season.

Thanks again guys, no doubt about it this is the best of all the sporting forums, great members here.

Also picked this 12 Gauge Custom Engraved LeFever/Ithaca up late last season, and only got to shoot a few birds with her. The smaller 16 type frame on her makes this a great early season Grouse gun to shoot thru the thick foliage. Looking forward to using her more also. The old LeFever is one serious Grouse gun with 2 1/2 SpredR shells in her. Definitely a great conversation piece for show and tell around the big rock fire pit in the evening after Grouse hunting.

Congratulations Dave!

Good luck with the pup. I know I love my Llewellins. Give us some more info. Male? Female? Color? 8 weeks?

Sounds like it should be a good time to bring up a grouse dog. I have a buddy in Michigan who said the peak should be there in a year or two.

Dave, congratulations. I know you will, but watch out for your dogs and that road in the front of your house. Hopefully it isn't a speedway for knuckleheads. Hate for one of your pooches to get loose if that's the case. Gil
