Looking for a Remington 1100s in 16 and 12 gauge. Looking for plain barrels with modified or full chokes. Condition needs to be 80% or better.

Thanks for the correction, I was a little jet-lagged when I made that post. I am looking for an 1100, not a sporting model though which if I recall correctly was Remington's cheaper model that they sold in the 80s.

You will find that 16 Gauge 1100’s were not made in the 1980’s. The last of the ‘parts guns’ were delivered by Remington in 1978 or so. If memory serves Remington did not make another run of 16 Gauge 1100’s until the 1990’s.

I know this because I have one of those 1978 parts guns and it was a mish mash of parts assembled and nothing matched especially the wood. However it is a better balanced gun than the newer stuff because the barrel has a nice taper to it. Everything on mine has been massaged and redone on some level and it looks nothing like it did when I bought it back in 1990.

If you find an older 16 Gauge 1100 you are going to love it.......and if you don’t let me know, I will find a home for it.

Thanks for that info, I knew they had quit making them then I thought Rem brought them back for a brief time but wasnt sure of the dates.

There are some for sale on gun broker right now but none in the condition I would like. I may just have to get one and piecemeal it together as I find better conditioned parts.

The nice thing about 16 Gauge 1100’s are that most parts are the same as 12 gauge 1100’s, including the receiver. (I can feel the purists cringing. LMAO)

You could piece one together without a lot of problems. The older tapered barrel might be the toughest part to find.

I see some 1100 16s with barrels with changeable chokes, did Rem start making them that way towards the end of production or is that aftermarket?
If they did come that way from the factory do you happen to know what year they started that?

I want one with a set choke tapered barrel.
