Gentlemen,
Well the Pa Grouse season started out great, Heston and Penny combined on a real nice true Double and I walked away with one beautiful Grouse after missing the front end of a fine true double, I let the dogs down for sure. it was serious thick cover and the old man tried to put the 1st Grouse down to quickly, and shot to much of the big Hemlock tree instead of the bird, the 2nd Grouse was not so lucky as it banked up over the trees, the J.P. Sauer 16 with the SpredR 7 1/2 shells did it's job, and the nice 2nd year bird was retrieved by Heston our Ryman Setter male. Got to say the old 16 Gauge J.P is one serious bird gun, should have had both birds but shot a little to quickly anticipating the shot on the 2nd Grouse.
Had to get out of the woods by 11:00 due to the overly warm opening day., Monday is suppose to be better Grouse weather. Ken will be here late Sunday, hoping for another beautiful day in the Grouse woods.

Great start, Dave, here's hoping the birds keep cooperating. |

kgb,
Kirk the warm weather blew in here on Wednesday evening, now in the 70's here looks like it will be that way for the rest of the next 2 weeks. Serious bummer!
Thinking about going down to Murrysville, Pa and spending some time with my wife. Looks like the warm weather is here to stay for a while. Got a few things that need done at the new house any way, and Penny my old Gordon female needs the rest now.

That's a great pic of the guns & a real nice grouse & fan at the start of the thread.
HAppy Thanksgiving. I will probably be out for a morning hunt before the Mid day meal. |

fourtrax,
Thanks for the nice comment on the 1st picture and enjoy the hunt Thanksgiving morning. My Grandfather me and my Dad use to hunt Thanksgiving morning and be home by noon. Seems like the modern ladies can't handle Thanksgiving Dinner all by themselves any longer. My Grandmother would have been insulted if my Grandfather had to participate in making her Thanksgiving Dinners, he was not even allowed in the kitchen.
Have a good one buddy!
