I have only six shotguns and all are 16 gauge. This site is the only shotgun location I visit for information, intelligence, and passion regarding shotguns. Since I have no knowledge of the other shotgun sites, those that visit other sites; do you sense the same passion for the other gauges? Are we a unique group? Does the 12, 20, 28, and 410 create as much excitement? I appreciate your insight. |

1) Yes
2) No
3) They could and would, depending.
One can learn from anyone, regardless of the scattergun guage they prefer at the moment....especially so if the learning pertains to birddogs.
Scattergun gauge.....is very small taters in the big picture of birddogs and birdhunting.
Larger spuds if mirrors occupy a prominent position in the house. |

There's a 28 ga society also but I'm pretty proud of this little bunch. I imagine most here appreciate/hunt/shoot several gauges but have a special spot for the 16 |

I believe an ounce of shot is more than adequate for upland birds and for me a 16 Ga. on a 16 Ga. frame feels perfect for the job. Eleven years ago I replaced my BSS 20's with a 16 Ga. #2 AyA and couldn't be happier. I still use a 12 Ga. for waterfowl and on occasion I shoot my 28 Ga. Parker, but my AyA 16 Ga. is my favorite gun for upland hunting. |

GoatHoof,
Because of our interest in 16 Gauge Shotguns we are pretty much a unique bunch, here on the 16 forum. However many of us belong to the 28 Gauge Forum and the SSBB also. Our membership here on the 16 Forum makes this the best sporting type forum on the net, we have a very knowledgeable civil membership here, that will advise and help those who want to learn everything from good guns to hunting, especially bird hunting with a 16 Gauge gun.
Good choice when you picked to join only this forum, hopefully you will avoid all the crazies.
Enjoy yourshelf and participate as much as you can.

I never run down any other site, after all, they are promoting hunting and shotguns, that is a brotherhood to be protected.
The "Antis" have tried and failed for years to divide and conquer firearms owners.
I am a member of both the 28Gauge Society, and this forum, I have found good, knowledgeable folks on both sites.

You left out 10ga and 24ga.
I am not a gauge snob, I use what I need when I think I need it, come pheasant season, hard not to take 16ga, hard part is which one? |

I visit, read and post on this board, the Doublegun board and the Canadian site, Gunnutz, on a regular basis. Each for different reasons.
This site, although dedicated to 16's, is, IMHO, a very good all-round site to discuss guns, shells, gear, dogs and hunting.
I go to Doublegun specifically to continue my education (never ending) on old SxS.
I go to Gunnutz for all of the above but with a Canadian perspective with regard to places, smiths, law and marketplace.
If I don't visit all three, something is missing. |

I really like the doublegunshop and what it offers. This is still my new main squeeze. |
