I have a Fox Sterlingworth Deluxe 16 gauge in very good condition. I believe it is all original. I'm deliberating on whether to sell it to pay for some home repairs, but I'm having a hard time determining its value. Can anyone chime in on what I could reasonably expect to get for a gun like this?

Thanks!

Stock dimensions, barrel length, and choke constrictions are all helpful with value determination. Bore condition and all but the last two serial numbers too.

IMO pugsguns can afford to sit on those guns for a very long time until someone has to have one. They are all over priced IMO

Pugs can ask what he wants, but unless those Foxes are new in the original box, they're not worth that much.

It seems of late that people look at old American shotguns and suddenly see 4 years of college tuition or that new car. It might be worse with Parkers - they see "Parker Bros" on the gun and think they hit the Powerball - than with Foxes, but it's getting out of hand even there. It Ain't So.

A top-notch, un-cut, un-messed-with, still has most of its original case color 16 ga Sterly with 28 inch tubes might go $2k on a good day. But those are rarer than hens' teeth. The vast majority of Sterlingworths were used - a lot - and are the equivalent of an older Volvo with 150k or so miles behind it. Quality, but.... The Sterly might have been well-cared-for, but it's still gone through a lot of use.

The generic "A" grade is even iffier. There are a lot fewer of them - always were - but they have the same kind of use history across the population. IF it's a really high-condition gun, Julias' might be interested. But that's a real big IF.

I recently paid $605.00 for a 16 ga sterlingworth with no case left polished bright good barrels, no pitting choked full and mod. decent dimensions LOP 14.25 to hard pad, DAH 2 5/8". Off Gun Broker. Shoots great!! I also recently bought an "A" grade 16 ga with good demensions but had been restocked, and reblued but had been stored incorrectly and the barrel has light rust and needs reblued and I am going to recase the frame. I have $2100.00 into it with out the work to do, also of Gun Broker auction.

For whatever reason, justified or not, Utica guns don't bring the prices Philly made guns bring condition being equal. Gil

Here are a few pictures of the gun. It is in great condition, with no cracks in the wood or any other issues whatsoever. The particulars about the gun are stated in the Callahan letter, which is shown in the first picture below.

Thanks for everyone's assistance, and please chime in on what you think the value of this gun would be.

$1000 to $1500 depending on how fast you want to move it.
