Beautiful guns. I have a custom stocked LC Long Range and like it a lot. I prefer custom engraving to simply upgrading to an old factory pattern. As a rule modern American engravers are much better than the factory engravers of old. The guns pictured in this thread are lovely.
I have considered having a set of 28 gauge barrels made for my 20 gauge Fox. You just send an extra set of 20 gauge barrels with a fore end, your gun, and a large sum of cash (at least $4,000) to Kirk Merrington and he makes you a lovely, balanced set of sleeved 28 gauge barrels. It makes no sense as I already shoot 3/4 oz loads through it, but I just love those little red hulls.
Regards,
Jeff |

Just brought this old thread back up because I recently added the 16 gauge FW that FN16 sold to Black Belt and now it's in the possession of my grubby mitts!
Wow! Some stunning LC Smiths in this thread. I haven't shot mine yet, but I'm considering breaking it in on a rooster pheasant. |

This is my latest project gun. It has been 4 years in the making. I hope to have it done by next year.
A 16 gauge Fox upgrade. a two barrel set in 28 and 30 inches with ejectors.
It is almost ready for engraving. It will get a leather covered recoil pad and needs checkering, and about 20 coats of hand rubbed oil.

Love the cheeks and the fences the scalloped action looks great. Don't let Jeffery overdo the engraving the shape and lines on that receiver are fantastic. Really beautiful gun I would love to see it completed. |

I thought I'd update this old post about my 2 barrel set custom Fox 16 project now that things are starting to come together and the finish line is in sight.
It looks like I'll be able to hunt with this gun after Thanksgiving.
The wood is done, sans the checkering. That should be done in the next few weeks.
The engraving is also done, sorry pudelpointer, I instructed Gournet to give it the chisel! I like bold engraving! I had it case colored, then given a French gray treatment.
Both sets of Barrels have been blued and the forends are done as well. I decided to have a buffalo horn buttplate done instead of a leather covered pad. I want to use it for a while with the length of pull at 15 1/8 before I make a decision about a pad of any kind.
