Any of you old timers remember Ed Zern and Exit Laughing?
I just finished rereading Hunting and fishing from A to Zern and found myself laughing out loud frequently. |

Jim, a forum member uses a quote from Zern as his signature. He did have a great column. Gil |

I took my sig line from one of his books, maybe To Hell With Hunting. Was always a fan of Exit Laughing. |

There was a model 21 16 ga custom gun from the fifties that was his gun and had his name on the silver grip cap that was on the market recently but finally sold, I guess, from a gun shop in Louisiana |

An Ed Zern classic F&S Exit Laughing was "Is There Really A Ted Trueblood?" Noted Idaho author, conservationist Ted Trueblood was a regular to F&S readers and to this day, one of my favorite hunting and fishing writers. Ed so convincingly wrote that..."How could a real person exist with such a name?"...And that the whole Ted Trueblood thing was a fictional character of F&S management; poor Ted Trueblood had to appear, I believe at the F&S office in New York City, to prove his existence. |

T-Bone,
You are absolutely Correct! Looks to melike you need another 16 Gauge double gun.

Exit Laughing, although at the end of Field and Stream, was always the first thing I read when the latest issue came.

If it wasn't for Ed Zern, Corry Ford and others, I probably never would have learned to read.

Bill,
I fully appreciate your learning curve for reading, in my generation it was Hemingway, Spiller and Knight, with a few others mixed in from time to time.
Now these kids today can't read or due math, the dumbing down of America is real.
