It looks like I am finally going to go see what Kansas is like. I have thought about it for oh say 20 years and always wanted to hunt bobwhites like Dad spoke of way back when I took an interest in doing so and he no longer could.

Of course, my goals are more than just bobs. There is the matter if the 14 years since I last watched a prairie chicken fly out of sight; not to mention pheasants, snow geese, and whatever else I find. I am excited to say the least.

Well, its time to load up the guns and a few last items before latching up the camper. I don't do the smart phone thing, so...chat with you all later! If you see this rig and a border collie in north central Kansas...

I got good reports from my buddy on the bobwhite hunting in western Kansas. You should have a great hunt, but above all, be safe.

I don't miss many of the firearms I've sold over the years, but I do miss the '78 Ford pickup that looks a lot like yours that I sold in 1993. Every time I see one, I wish I had it back.

Have a great hunt. I never hunted Kansas but I have been in the Dakotas. I hope you find some wild bob whites. From what little I know of hunting them they are rapidly vanishing from their native states. When I was a kid we had them in Michigan but even then the numbers were greatly diminished.

Good Hunting,
Mike

Good luck! I hunt KS every year and love it. Good bird numbers this year. Hope to see pics of your conquest!

Best of luck. My son and I went last year for our first time to Kansas. We really enjoyed it. My father and I will be headed out that way in mid December.

Enjoy, and leave some for seed! This Kansas person is headed to Arizona to escape the cold right after Christmas...

There wasn't much cold to escape from until the day I left! Then it got cold. Zero degrees when I pulled into Sutherland, Nebraska to camp that night. I was glad I had heavily insulated my camper for severe weather use.
