Have stumbled upon an a-5 16 ga. Not marked sweet 16. No made in japan or made in belgium markings. The serial number is A179xx. The last two omitted for security. Any idea when and where this this was made? |

If the serial no. is on the left side rather than in front of loading port (on bottom) it was made by Rem. during WW 2 (same as model 11 except it has the magazine cut off feature) as Belgium was occupied by Nazi Germany.
From1940 - 1946
If I Remember correctly 16 ga. started with the letter A, 12 ga. with B, C for the 20 ga.
