I am looking for a good Double Guns smith in the treasure coast area of Florida. In the past I had used Bill Gillette at Quail Creek but unfortunately he is very ill and has given up his craft. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks

Joe

Joe , that's amazing that Bill is still around . Almost bought my 1st gun from him nearly a million yrs ago when he was in Spencerport here . Sort of pioneer the expanded Stan Baker type choke installation by using a POLY sleeve .

Bill was a gentleman as well as a good smith. I'm not 100% sure of his present ailment but I know he was continuously on Oxygen while working in the small trailer he had set up at Quail Creek Plantation in Okeechobee. I wish him the best. But would like to find a local or at least nearby replacement. you know how it is when your shooting , I would see or experience something I would like to have taken care of and just walk over to his shop, and it would be done the next time I came back. I was about the only guy using SXS and he like working on them.

Joe

Yes , I know Merrel Helms very well ,very nice guy . He was at one time the head of Brownings' target gun shop . I have had him do work on some of my O/Us . He has done a great job with them . He is not a double gunsmith of vintage SXS 's for restoration work . I would think he could handle most repairs if he can get parts .
