Greetings,

I have my eye on a reasonably priced 37 a few hours from home. It is " reasonably " priced because it has a Cutts compensator on it. I can't decide if it's just down right ugly or if the Cutts just fits the vintage. I haven't seen it in person, just pics. What do you guys think of a Cutts on vintage guns?

Thanks,
David

Beauty is as beauty does
They shoot GREAT when properly fitted.
I have many Cutts guns and do not mind the vintage look.
Just think of them as an early ported barrelled shotgun Smile

I was fortunate to recently find a newer production Upper Sandusky built 37 in 16g, and to say I'm impressed is an understatement. What a nice pump gun! Sold my Citori 16 and am now saving for a 28g M37. I personally like the looks of the Cutts on some guns, give the whole vintage vibe. If the gun was really nice the Cutts wouldn't stop me from buying it.

I think they are as ugly as homemade sin.

It really matters what you think.

You are very fortunate. They only made 250 and have no plans to make more. I looked long and hard for one to no avail. When I visited the factory to pick up my 12 gauge they had one in the rack but it wasn't for sale.

Without regard to aesthetics, woe be unto anyone's ears standing next to a Cutts when the gun is fired. You don't want to be on a dove field next to someone shooting a Cutts. Gil

Have one on a remmy (cutts). It shoots fine. They are not pretty but your not looking at that with a live target on the wing anyway.

Yes very lucky, and in Canada none the less! Don't see many new Ithacas up here. The gent I bought it from special ordered it with a non engraved receiver, AA wood, and also an extra 28" plain field barrel. Unfortunately he cut the plain barrel down to 20" to use for deer. At least he left the 28" vented bbl alone.
So much hate for the Cutts on here haha!!!!

I don't like the looks of the old style choke devices. However, when I was in the Army, stationed in Kansas I sometimes borrowed a 20 gauge Ithaca Model 37 with 26 inch barrel and a choke device on it. It was a fantastic combination for bobwhite quail!
