Outstanding! The earlier guns had that high luster bluing on the receiver and if my eyes aren't deceiving me, does the engraving appear to be handchased with more detail? Gil |

Gil,
I cannot say for sure. The engraving is nice but I'm not well versed enough in engraving to know if was hand chased or not. |

Here's the other side. Sorry for the glare. That blue is so reflective it's difficult for a hack photographer like me to get a good picture.

Matt, that's not handchased. Handchasing was done by Ithaca engravers to repair incomplete machine engraving rather than discard a "defective" receiver. Here's an example on my 1939 20 ga., the first year of 20 ga. production. That's quite a gun you found. Gil

Tonight was the end of our Fall/Winter/Spring league shoot. No score tonight, just fun targets and the club does hotdogs and burgers. Our team members all brought out some of their non target guns. I shot a round of skeet and a round of five stand sporting clays with the 37. Shot fairly well, 21 in skeet and 21 in sporting clays. I shot one round with my 20 gauge Beretta Blackwing and ended up with a 20. Great evening with the guys. I've shot the same league and team for 15 years. We'll get together again in September for the start of next season's league. I shoot the 37 so well I may use it next season for skeet and sporting clays. |
