You left out Little Miss SureShot, Annie...otherwise, that is a good lineup of top shots.
A skeet field will do most all the teaching necessary for actual gamebirds, if used creatively, and at a reasonable cost in time and money.
However, introducing trees or grapevines, poor footing, drop-offs and charging critters will make sales...more easily swallered.[/quote]
One of the more interesting courses I have recently shot is the new Indian River county sporting clays course. Lots of trees and vegetation. Makes target acquisition a challenge. Also, has trap, sorry, pistol, archery, and rifle to 200 yards. Run by Indian River county Florida and a good value. Joe |

j swanson,
Heard about the Indian River Course, suppose to be a real nice shoot on a seriously Forested course! Glad some body mentioned it here. I ever get down that way I will definitely give it a go.
No matter how much practice a young man gets on a clays course of any kind, there is no practice that actually emulates having to set up on a snow covered hill side, as your Grouse Dog locks up on Grouse point, with the Grouse buried under the snow.
Nothing can really replace the experience of the actuall Grouse hunt.

Yes, we are trying to get together some people for a 16ga shoot at Vanzant, Mo in October. We need to get at least ten shooters to commit and pre-pay for Bobski to make the 1000mi+ trip to open his club for the shoot. He hosts a shoot each spring and each fall for people to enjoy shooting skeet and trap, with some variations thrown in, and we get together for a weekend of fun and visiting like a family reunion.
Please check out the event that is posted for Vanzant, Mo and come enjoy a fun weekend. |

Mike, we currently have only about three of us signed up for the shoot and need to get more for it to happen. The cost is $50 and three cases of Walmart targets.
This entitles you to ten rounds of skeet and trap with some games thrown in with it.
Bring a case(250rds) of 16ga ammo and be ready for some fun.
Lunch on Saturday is a pot luck event with all who adding something for the meal. |

Is there anyone local to Vansant that is younger that would need a scholarship?
This would add to those signed up and maybe
allow the shoot to happen??
Let us know, I might sponsor one for $100, for the $50 fee and clays and ??

Mike, I like the idea! I'll get with bobski and tell him about your idea. He is an excellent teacher and spent a good bit of time with a new shooter at the spring all bore shoot and the young man ended up doing very well! |
