Shot it today -- it does indeed have 2 3/4 chambers -- smith measured -- opened full $ fuller to Ic/Mod -- 2 rounds of low gun skeet -- a 22 & 23 . Pheasants better run cause if they fly they' gonna die !

I have a sickness - this 16ga affliction is unshakeable! A new one arrived by mail today. She's a ract syvilett German girl --a pre war Simson with 28" bls weighing in at just 6 lbs, cocking indicators, ejectors. The make date is 2/1926. not fancy wood but the frame is smaller than my 20ga JP Sauer. Throws to the shoulder as if it were part of me -- only negative (temporarily) is that its choked Full & full -- soon to be lt Skeet & lt mod.

Nice score grouser. Looks to be in very clean shape. Do you think it came blued from the factory or did someone refinish it to that?

I wondered about that -- looked at it carefully but no usual narks from buffing and the script is nice & sharp. Never saw a blued German gun of that era that wasn't cased colored.

Nice gun, Circa ‘26 I’d gather it is short chambers. Not a deal breaker by any means. I’d have no reservations about opening the chokes. My vote it is a refinish, but a good job. As you noted the engraving etc all look crisp.

Also it’s a bit lighter than most simson 16’s so that’s a nice bonus in my book. Enjoy, I’m more than a bit jealous....

I have a local guy that does very good barrel work . as far as side by side fever, keep in mind that God put human eyes side by side --- not stacked on top of one another Smile

Great gun! If you want to leave the chokes original you can always shoot polywad spreaders

Considering the symptoms, why ever would a body wish to be "shaken" of such an affliction? The answer surely doth elude me. I would say that your currency has been wisely transformed into something quite useful.
