Had an uncle that took a shine to me when I was about 9. Took me under his wing, taught me how to hunt ,trap and fish.
We spent every minute we could together during the fall and winter. I learned how to hunt squirrel and rabbit. How to trap mink, coon and muskrats. How to run bank, bush and trotlines for flatheads and blues.
When he passed, I was given alot of his stuff. Including his guns. Amongst them a 1953 Browning standard weight 16ga. A-5, from the end of X-prefix era. He bought it new in the summer of 1954.
Soon be 40 years , my uncle has been gone. The Browning and the memories live on.

These old guns live on. Good for you to keep the string running. Gil |

Good for you. Sad to think of all the fine old firearms hidden away in a closet or under a bed, never to see the field again. |

Benjo,
Thanks for sharing your story & pictures. Reminded me of my grand-uncle and his "lessons" also in NE Ohio. Brought back some very warm memories...

Your uncle sure gave you a wonderful gift and I do not refer to the Browning. That Browning is an important part of the equation though; cherish it and someday pass those gifts along to a young 'un who deserves them both. |

WYOChukar,
You bet the Uncle passed along a great gift and now the pictures are there to show he did his job, Benjo needs to pass the gift down thru the generations in his own family now!
Our family traditions of Grouse/Woodcock hunting and Fly Fishing have been passed down thru the generations, along with the incredible double guns and fantastic Bamboo Fly Rods. Behind all this is our families belief in the Supreme Architect, and his way of life.
Benjo was given a very special kind gift.
