I found and bought another 1909 16ga A5. I should have it in hand this weekend.

Cool, Skeettx. Is that your Superposed?

The picture I posted to bump this thread is not mine. It's a one of kind Auto-5. The story can be found here:

Well worth a look.

super thread to read. Quick question for you guys.
1, if serial number is on the side that means its 100% made by Remington after War?

2, I understand A=16ga but the numbers are not matching up with the info im reading. if its American shouldn't it start with 229,000?

1940-1946 From 1940 to 1946 production of the Auto-5 was turned over to Remington. Serial number is on the side of receiver. "ABC" for American made Version. (A=16 gauge, B-12 gauge, C=20 gauge) 1946+229,000-237,000

the serial number is A6008 on side of receiver. so that makes me think this

1957 – 1958 Second series of "A" prefix
A Serial Number 01 November 14, 1957 and T Serial Number T229 November 24, 1957
1957-1958 A or T #01 – 10900 A Indicated Sweet Sixteen and T indicated standard 16
but does the above post say where the Serial is located on gun?

thanks for any clarification beforehand.
Robert

Hi Robert,
This guide is primarily devoted to the Belgium made Browning A5 16ga. Standard weight and Sweet Sixteen. I am a fan of any 16ga including the Remington version of the A5. You probably know more about the Sportsman and Model 11 than me. There are a lot of others here with knowledge, experience and expertise that may also help.

I enjoyed our phone visit the other day on your rare 3 Shot A5. I hope we get to see your pics of it here when it arrives.
