Hello everyone,
I was recently convinced to get into 16s, (my second time around) so I bought a late 40s Ithaca 37 on gunbroker. Just wanted to introduce myself and at the same time see what shells are working best for pheasant. I'm used to shooting 1-1/4oz #4s in my 12ga guns. Typical duck & pheasant loads.

Hello Ericb
WELCOME on your FIRST posting
Most any #5 lead load of 1 ounce or higher
will fill the bill for most pheasant situations

Eric,

I always recommend the Fiocchi Golden Pheasant loads, #5 work great.

Welcome aboard. I load my own pheasant fodder and find that 1 1/8 oz. of #5 at mid velocities does everything I could ever expect a 16 ga. to do.

Thanks. I’m looking forward to getting out this fall and hope to be able to post a pic of my gun with some pheasants.

Those work well for me as well.
But if you reload, a 1 1/8 ounce load of hard 5 or 6 shot at 1250-1350 will work very well.
