Today the family and I are in the midst of relocating to Spokane Washington. A family friend stopped by and gave me a gift. Apparently her grandfather had it for quite some time and she knew I like "old things" gun related. What a wonderful gift!
Box of 25 perfect shells! I suspect this is from the 1930's? |

Those shells are newer than you think.
On another website I posted a picture of a similar but later box of the same shells.
In the thread, "Researcher" had this to say:
"Those Peters High-Velocity shells with the "New Peters Crimp" are 1947 to 1960. From 1947 to 55 the shells would have had the little paper load sticker over the crimp"
He is the most knowledgeable man I know of when it comes to just about anything gun related so I thought I'd throw this out there.
This was my picture:

I shot a partial box of those last year at Kansas roosters and a few quail out of my nitro special. They worked like a charm. |

An old man gave me a box of shells like that back in the 70's. They were magnums and held 1 1/4 oz of shot. I was just a kid then but shot all those up at squirrels. Still got the old box but wish it were full.

Very cool! Enjoy.
I'm guessing from the included flyer, they were manufactured soon after the "new" crimps started.
I bet, not many of those flyers survived.,,, |
