The Model B has absolutely nothing in common with shotguns designed by Ansley H. Fox. Essentially they are the internal parts of the J. Stevens Arms Co.'s No. 530 installed in a slightly nicer profiled receiver with a bit nicer stock and forearm. From the Model Bs mid-1939 introduction through WW-II they were marked Utica, NY. By 1947 Savage Arms Corp. consolidated their arms making operations at their J. Stevens factories at Chicopee Falls, Mass. In 1960/61 they moved to their "modern" factory in Westfield, Mass. From the end of WW-II to the implementation of the Gun Control Act of 1968 the Model Bs don't have serial numbers. |
