Today was just one of those cold wet snowy days fully complemented by a biting breeze. It was not the kind of hang onto your hat and guard the duck decoys kind of breeze though, so it seemed wise to get some chores done, indoors mostly. One nagging little task that I just hadn't got around to was putting a new rotary bolt in the Fox Sterlingworth. It has always had a minor bit of play; not much but just enough to bother me. Well it was finally time for the rubber to meet the road, so to speak, since I had the time and no other pressing matters to address first. This is the second Fox I have performed this repair to, the first being an old 12 that belonged to my Dad. This also was a great chance to clean the action internally, something that doesn't happen all that often with most double guns. Glad to have done it.

Not many people I know could tackle such a job. I guess being kinda isolated in Wyoming has meant a lot of things really are possible if you are smarter than what you're working on. Good on ya!

Skeet, re-assembly was completed without any drama. Like with most doubles, the only real challenge involved the spring loaded top lever return system and that was vastly easier than on an L.C. Smith!

I can't hardly respond to a thread that begins with a SNOW day . Yesterday was 85 and all time OCT record for a low in the 70's . However , will be 50's soon , so fall can begin . Nice job on the double - another thing I wished I had the patience for !
