Thanks for the kind replies . Good luck Carl this week end, good luck to Dave and son on your deer hunt. My grandson is ready to go again, I don't know if we can get together on our regular state wide hunt or not beginning the 10th of Nov. There might be a problem getting someone to drive him half way to meet me, but there is a late season youth hunt in Dec. for the 2nd tag, but they are pretty shy after the state wide hunt.
Good luck to all in your hunting adventures.

Pierre South Dakota on 10/29/18. A guided hunt but all wild birds, and eight limits...

A great pup, public land, a good gun, and a couple hard earned wild birds.
Left my ugly face out of the pic out of concern for others.

Gentlemen,
The 1st couple weeks of Grouse season have been great here on the northern tier of Pa, except it has been very rainy. Need a little sun!

Dave very rainy here at the minute as well but the last couple of Saturdays we have been very lucky and while we were out the rain held off and we got home dry , the week I hunted with my son in the picture above we just got in home and hadn't even the car cleared out when we looked out and the place was white with hail stones . it will be nice to see a bit of frost hopefully and the woodcock should be here soon also . Keep dry Dave and good hunting ,WJ. |

Thank you to all of you for your stories and photo's.
Unfortunately I have not been able to get out hunting for the last five years and after two back operations it looks like I will never be able to go again so I live threw stories of others. |

Opening day for me was Saturday. Had some poor shooting in the morning but made up for it the last pass of the day. 2 pointed roosters with one shot each. 1 ounce of 5s at 1185fps from my 100 year old German 16 I bought a few months ago.

Cheesy,
Ok what is the make of your German double gun? Nice picture of the Pheasant and double gun on the fence post!
