Hello,
Can someone please give the differences between the Standard and the Sweet 16. A friend of mine has a Standard 16 and it seems to be a lot heavier that the Sweet 16 I held last week. Is weight the only difference? How about a fair market price? I'd say the gun is at least 95% or better bluing and wood. The gun was made in Belgium with the number X79086. Also it has 1 star on the barrel, I think it is for type of choke??
Thanks in advance,
Rudy |

That serial puts it in early '53. One * is the mark for full choke.
Sweet 16s have several lightening cuts which the standards don't. The easiest to see are holes drilled in the barrel ring. They also removed more wood from in the butt. The total weight saving is usually listed as about 10 oz. though a Sweet with a solid rib can weigh the same as a clean barrel standard.
Sweets also have a gold plated trigger, though some early ones don't.
Value on a '53 standard as you describe.....probably 400-600.
